The video, which began circulating widely on Wednesday morning, showed a car being driven dangerously on the Mutthi Flyover while the driver allegedly performed risky stunts on the busy roadway. The footage immediately drew attention online, prompting traffic police officials to launch an investigation into the incident.
Using the vehicle registration number visible in the viral clip, police traced the car and identified the driver as Aarav Sharma, an MBA student. According to DSP Traffic City Ashwini Sharma, the video clearly reflected negligent and hazardous driving behavior that could have endangered not only the driver but also other commuters using the road.
Officials stated that once the vehicle details were verified, legal action was initiated without delay and the car was seized. During questioning, the vehicle owner informed police that he had been in Katra and that the car had remained with his son during his absence.
Meanwhile, the youth claimed before police that the viral video was nearly two years old and alleged that the individual performing the stunt had since moved abroad. Despite the explanation, authorities treated the matter seriously and conducted counseling sessions with the youth, warning him against engaging in such activities in the future.
The action taken by Jammu traffic police has received appreciation from members of the public. Several people stated that videos promoting reckless driving and dangerous stunts on social media can influence other young individuals to imitate such behavior, making strict enforcement and timely intervention necessary to ensure public safety on roads.
